Grand Bayou Scholarship Awarded to Local Student

	Ellen Banta, daughter of Joy and Eugene Banta, is the recipient of this year’s Dow Grand Bayou Scholarship.

Ellen Banta, daughter of Joy and Eugene Banta, is the recipient of this year’s Dow Grand Bayou Scholarship.  Ellen is a graduate of Ascension Catholic High School and plans to attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and will major in Mass Communications.

This scholarship is a $2,400 scholarship to be distributed over a 4-year period.  Throughout her high school career, Ellen has been committed to academic excellence.  Her academic strengths include self-discipline and organizational skills and is also active in Teens for Life, National Honor Society and the School Spirit Team.

The Dow Grand Bayou Scholarship honors graduating students for above-average achievement in school and provides an incentive for qualified and capable high school graduates to continue their education.
