Dow Louisiana Operations has another outstanding year

The LAO employee-led Ruth Gandour Memorial Blood Bank has had another outstanding year in 2005. Once again, the LAO employees were honored as the largest group donors for the Our Lady of the Lake Hospital Blood Bank.

Through this year's five blood drives, 1,173 pints of blood were collected. Of that amount, 719 pints of whole blood donations were made and 454 platelet donations were made. There were also 92 new Gallon Donors this year.

The total estimated value of this year's blood donations is about $447,525. In eight years the LAO Blood Drives have collected more than 11, 000 units of blood products which have helped over 33,000 individuals.

Since 1981, the LAO Blood Drives have collected 26,622 pints for a total of $5,194,575 estimated value.
