Dow, Dolce Unveil New Name and Look for Ashman Court Hotel

Midland, MI - November 19, 2007

Today, Ashman Court Hotel owners – including The Dow Chemical Company, and Dolce International unveiled the new name and look for Ashman Court Hotel, one year after announcing a $25 million renovation and expansion project to bring world-class hospitality to mid-Michigan.

The names and logos for the newly renovated hotel, an upscale restaurant, and a new café and bar pay homage to the periodic table of elements and the role of chemistry in society. The names and logos, along with special features of each venue, were revealed by Dow Chairman and CEO Andrew N. Liveris and Steve Giblin, president of Dolce International, the hotel’s management company, at a special luncheon attended by community leaders.

“The transformation of Ashman Court will offer a totally new experience in lodging, dining, meetings and special events that rivals, and even outshines, the best,” Liveris said. “Brick by brick, and element by element, we are building a world-class destination and soon, the doors will open to a totally new experience that will help strengthen the appeal of both Midland and the region. Dow is dedicated to community success, and this is just one example of our commitment to help make a difference.”

The new hotel is branded “The H,” and is designed to provide a unique environment of understated elegance and ultimate comfort.

“Dolce is proud to be in partnership with Dow on The H hotel, and we are confident that the Dolce brand will enable this property to deliver one of the best hospitality experiences in the world,” Giblin said. “Our emphasis on unique and innovative thinking will make The H hotel a great destination across Michigan for businesses and individuals seeking an exciting venue for restaurants and catered events.”

The H will be home to an upscale restaurant named “The Table,” which will offer cuisine from a 4-star, 5-diamond chef. It will also be home to “Café Zinc,” a European-style café that blends the innovative with old-world décor; and a bar called “Oxygen-O2” that features classic English décor, but with special accents from local Michigan designers.

The H also will house the H.H. Dow Academy, a premier executive learning program for Dow’s global leaders that is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2008. The remaining venues will open throughout the year.

More than 250 people attended the unveiling, which also included presentations by lead property architect Sandy Eeds of HOK Sport in Kansas City, Missouri; and the lead designer of the restaurants, Mark Johnson of Mark Johnson Associates in Pleasant Ridge, Michigan.
