Midland, Mich. - April 25, 2007
To celebrate the long-standing relationship between The Dow Chemical Company and Michigan State University (MSU), a family event has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at 4:00 p.m., at the recently opened Dow Diamond in Midland, Mich. All MSU alumni living in the mid-Michigan area, and their families, are invited to participate in the event at Dow Diamond – home of the Great Lakes Loons.
Ron Mason, MSU athletic director and former hockey coach will be speaking at the event. Mason led MSU to win the U.S. National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) hockey championship title in 1986. Several other MSU representatives, as well as leaders from Dow and Dow Corning, also are expected to attend.
The event will kick off the 2007 Dow/MSU Alumni Campaign to raise funds for the university. MSU alumni employed at Dow Corning, as well as those who have retired from Dow or Dow Corning are involved in similar campaigns to raise funds for MSU.
MSU is among the select group of universities around the globe where Dow regularly recruits new graduates for roles in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Public Affairs, Information Systems, etc. Currently, there are about 400 MSU alumni employed at Dow, while Dow Corning employs about 150 MSU alumni.
MSU receives aid-to-education grants from The Dow Chemical Company Foundation, as well as funding direct from Dow for various collaborations in research and development.
