Dow Employees Choose Name for Baseball Stadium - "Dow Diamond"

Midland, MI - October 02, 2006

The Dow Chemical Company announced today it will name the Michigan Baseball Foundation’s Minor League Baseball stadium "Dow Diamond," in recognition of the signature red diamond that has been the company's logo and brand for more than 100 years.

In April, Dow announced that it had purchased the naming rights to the stadium, which will be home to the Great Lakes Loons single-A Minor League Baseball team. The stadium name and accompanying logo were unveiled today by Dow Chairman and CEO Andrew Liveris during a day-long employee celebration in Midland near the company's manufacturing site.

"Being the naming sponsor for the stadium was a natural fit for Dow, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the name chosen by our employees," Liveris said. "I’m sure many of our employees will enjoy watching the Great Lakes Loons play, and we are proud that we were able to help bring this wonderful asset to the people of mid-Michigan."

Throughout the day, employees were treated to nine innings of baseball fun on a three-quarter size ball field. Baseball-themed food, family games and entertainment were just some of the highlights of the day. Employees came from the company’s Michigan Operations site nearby and were shuttled from the Corporate Headquarters about two miles away. Families were invited to attend with employees.

The sponsorship – which will cost approximately $280,000 per year – includes a Dow suite at the stadium and various other benefits that will be offered to Dow employees as special recognitions and incentives. The agreement also includes donating Loons' tickets to local schools.

"Throughout Dow's history, we have been a company that cares for the region, its employees, the environment and its communities. That's why we are here today – to celebrate an investment that puts the spotlight on our community in a very positive way," Liveris said.
