Interim Response Work Plan for the Center Road Boat Launch

Background
The Interim Response Activities (IRAs) outlined in this document addresses the initial work to be taken at the Center Road Boat Launch in Saginaw County. Any interim response actions will be developed and implemented in consultation with Township officials and the MDEQ.

The Boat Launch
The Center Road Boat Launch encompasses approximately five acres, including parking lots, roads, a boat launch area and handicapped access ramp. There are no buildings.

Planned Interim Response Activities
Discussions were held with township officials and the following interim actions were identified:

• Crushed stone or riprap will be placed around the boat launch to limit potential exposure to soils and sediments;
• Fabric and large riprap will be placed by the handicap platform to prevent further bank erosion;
• Stone will be placed to cover exposed soil at the river access point of the handicap platform;
• Fencing will be improved to minimize access to areas toward Center Road Bridge; and
• Trees will be trimmed or removed to prevent further erosion and bank damage.

Township officials expect to complete these items during 2004. Dow will reimburse the Township for costs incurred.
