With the help of more than 700 Dow employees, new hope was brought to an aging Saginaw community advancing our 2015 Sustainability Goal of Contributing to Community Success.
The Dow Habitat Neighborhood Revitalization Project took place from July 25 through August 1 in a 15-block neighborhood near Covenant Healthcare. Dow employees, contractors and family members, along with hundreds of community volunteers, worked on 40 – 50 homes, doing everything from yard work to complete exterior painting.
Due to the sluggish Michigan economy and struggling automotive industry, more than 10,000 homes in Saginaw sit vacant. Dow partnered with Habitat for Humanity to revitalize a neighborhood where many homeowners have already worked endless hours to improve their homes.
As an end result, volunteers from throughout mid-Michigan came together to improve the quality of life for more than 218 homeowners, instilling a sense of pride in ownership, and making a lasting impact on the Saginaw community.
