As the world’s largest producer of calcium chloride, Ludington Operations continues to be a robust and growing enterprise, manufacturing and selling hundreds of thousands of tons every year. Due to the steadily growing demand for calcium chloride products globally, Dow has engaged in several expansion activities at the Ludington facility, supporting Dow’s strategy to invest in products and technologies that deliver long-term growth and value to the company. These expansion projects build upon numerous enhancements made to the Ludington site over the last several years. The investment projects began in 2003 with the construction of a 27-mile pipeline, allowing Dow efficient and low-cost access to a new source of brine. Numerous projects since then have further improved Dow’s operating reliability and production capability.
One such investment will allow Dow to add 30 percent more production capacity, thereby providing customers with further supply reliability, which is critical to their business profitability and successful operations. In addition, the expansions exhibit Dow’s continued investment and commitment to the growth and longevity of its Ludington location.
