The Dow Community Grant program is an annual program that funds special service projects throughout Mason County. “Partnering with our communities is a tradition at Dow and an important business practice. Our communities hold our license to operate and their support is critical to our business success. Our philosophy is to invest in our communities and encourage them to invest in themselves,” said Bill Berrett, General Manager of Dow Ludington Operations. “This grant program is one of many ways that we are able to contribute to the community that has given us so much.” The Community Grant committee is seeking projects that promote science and education; enhance environmental sustainability; address specific problems or community needs; or provide positive change for a large number of community residents. Projects that emphasize substantial, visible community improvements are given priority for funds from this program. “Since its inception, the Dow Community Grant Program has helped hundreds of organizations throughout the area, providing over $470,000 in funds to help support projects that improve the quality of life for residents in the Ludington area,” said Berrett. To qualify for the grant, organizations must have a 501(c)(3) or 170(c)(1) non-profit tax designation, be a municipal or governmental agency, non-profit school or hospital or other organization that meets the Community Grant Program criteria. Grants cannot be awarded to religious organizations, political candidates, individuals or used for travel or operating expenses. Applications are being mailed to Mason County non-profit organizations. Application forms may also be requested by calling Linda Crowley, Dow Contributions Administrator at 845-4422.
