Visit the Wetlands![]() The Dow Wetlands is situated at the corner of LaSalle Road and Highway 40 in Sarnia, Ontario. The original area consists of four ponds with meandering shallow channels and includes two nesting areas, two deep ponds and two shallow ponds. It is a Carolinian habitat playing host to a wonderfully diverse variety of plants, birds and animals, including garter snakes, which populate a snake hibiculareum constructed of stone and and wood. A further 20 acres is expected to be fashioned into wildlife habitat by 2003. The Wetlands are adjacent to the Talfourd Creek bed, which is a major wildlife corridor in the Sarnia-Lambton area. The Wetlands is being cared for by the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority with a naturalist conducting regular environmental tours for local schools, Scout and Guide groups, and other members of the community. The public is invited to access to The Dow Wetlands during daylight hours to enjoy the sheltered picnic areas and walking trails. Toilet facilities are available for our human visitors. Beginning in early 2003, The Dow Wetlands will open its gates to the general public during daylight hours, from Monday to Friday. Please consult signage at the site for rules and regulations governing its use. Guided tours of The Dow Wetlands are available.
