Dow Memorial Forest

Shelter

In the fall of 2000, 530 trees were planted in a seven-acre expansion of The Dow Wetlands area to honour employees and retirees who have passed away in previous years. Beginning in 2000, Sarnia area retirees and employees will be honoured with a tree in the year following their passing.

The Dow Memorial Forest arose out of the belief that the success of the company lies in its people. The Forest honours the memory of past employees while contributing to the environment. The Dow Wetlands is an ideal location as the Memorial Forest will also be Carolinian habitat and can support larger species of animals to help balance the ecosystem in The Wetlands. The initial 530 trees that have been planted represent 10 trees for every year of the Site's operations to date.

The Forest is managed by the St. Clair Region Conservation Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of the natural resources of the St. Clair region. The Foundation operates a number of similar projects in the area.
