Dow Canada in Prentiss: Community Involvement

The people who work at Dow Canada’s Prentiss site come from many of the surrounding communities, and are proud to be volunteers for a diverse range of local organizations. Dow Canada supports their efforts through the Employee Involvement Program, which provides grants of up to $500 to support organizations with which Dow employees volunteer.

We also provide community investment grants to projects that focus on the following themes: sustainability, contributing to community success, science in society and innovation. Preference is given to organizations that will further Dow’s efforts to find solutions to the challenges of today: clean air, clean water and other areas essential to improving the human condition.

The 2007 Prentiss community grants program provided a total of $20,000 to 11 local non-profit organizations, including Clive Fire & Rescue, Lacombe Public Library and the Red Deer Hospice Society, among other worthy examples.

Currently, more than three-quarters of Dow's Prentiss property is reserved by Dow and MEGlobal for agriculture and habitat. Almost half of this land is home to Ellis Bird Farm, a bluebird preservation area, while the remainder is leased to site neighbours for farming activities.

Community investment criteria and forms for our Prentiss community investment efforts are available on the Dow Canada contributions and funding guidelines page.
