Dow Chemical Canada and Corporate Social Responsibility
Dow Chemical Canada strives to be welcomed and wanted in the communities in which it operates. Achieving this goal means we must make significant and meaningful contributions to gain a “license to operate” from the community in return. Our corporate social responsibility efforts, including financial contributions to local non-profit organizations and employee volunteerism, complement the positive impact of Dow products and services on our collective quality of life.
Community support is essential for each Dow site. Our site competitiveness evaluations include measures of community perception, local government support and whether complementary businesses are located in the area. These evaluations determine where Dow’s businesses will locate a new plant.
We keep our doors open to the public through tours at each of our sites, enabling people to meet our employees and find out more about our products, operations, environmental health and safety initiatives and emergency preparedness. You can find out more about facility tours by contacting us.
Community Investment
Dow Canada contributes about CAD $1 million annually to Canadian community initiatives that meet economic, environmental and social needs and help ensure the sustainability of our plant communities. Dow employees also contribute their time and money to help local community organizations and charities. These employees are eligible for funding for the organizations with which they volunteer through Dow’s Employee Involvement Program.
For more information about community donations criteria and application forms for our programs, please see the Dow Chemical Canada contribution guidelines page.
