Corporate Contributions in Canada – Western Canada

2006 Community Grants Program

The Community Grants Program provides Dow with an opportunity to fund projects that have a significant impact in the community, but may not be eligible to receive contributions support through Dow's regular community investment program.

The program encourages local organizations and non-profit groups to submit funding proposals for community-based projects and initiatives that promote long-term sustainability. The application deadline for Fort Saskatchewan proposals is April 30, 2006. The deadline for Prentiss is April 14, 2006.

A committee comprised of Dow personnel and community representatives will review the proposals and select successful projects and organizations by end of June.

Habitat for Humanity

Dow Canada and volunteer employees have been working with Habitat for Humanity since 1990. In 2004, Dow employees in Fort Saskatchewan helped to build a home in Edmonton, Alberta donating time, energy and STYROFOAM* brand insulation. Dow is building hope for the future by supporting Habitat for Humanity's goal of building100,000 homes for those in need by the end of the century.

Dow employees and their families teamed up with other community volunteers to plant trees as part of the City of Fort Saskatchewan's Urban Forest Project.

Urban Forest

Through a four-year, $40,000 contribution, Dow is helping to keep the City of Fort Saskatchewan's highway corridor green as a partner in the Urban Forest Project. The Urban Forest Project has a vision of planting 200,000 trees and shrubs along the city's highway buffer over the next 20 years. The project began in 2003, and Dow has been a partner since its inception. On May 7, 2005, Dow employees and community volunteers worked together to plant hundreds of trees and shrubs to make the Fort a greener place for everyone to live, work and play.
