Calgary
Dow Canada produces and sells more than $3.5 billion (Canadian) worth of chemicals and plastics each year. More than 50 per cent of the products manufactured at Dow in Canada are exported to countries around the world. Canadian manufacturing operations are in Milton, Sarnia and Weston, Ontario; Fort Saskatchewan and Prentiss, Alberta and Varennes, Quebec. Situated in downtown Calgary, Dow Canada's corporate headquarters is at the centre of Western Canada's petrochemical industry. It houses key functions including the office of the Dow Canada President, Legal, Communications, and Hydrocarbons and Energy. This office was first established in the early 1970s for Maligne Resources, the oil and gas arm of Dow Canada. In 1979 the office also was used for the Hydrocarbon Project because Dow had an interest in long-term ethylene purchases from Nova. In 1996 Dow Canada's head office was moved to Calgary. It was recognized that Dow's future growth and development in Canada relied on the abundant resources found in Alberta. |
