Manufacturing Site

Dow acquired the Middlesbrough site in 2001. Prior to this, it was owned by Ascot Holdings, who took it over from the Suter Group in 1998. The original 'All Saints Refinery' in Middlesbrough was set up over 100 years ago (1868) as a tar refinery, refining coal tar and allied products. The site then passed into the ownership of North Western Oil Company, and then to Carless Chemicals who owned the site up until the 1980s.

There are several plants at the Middlesbrough site, comprising a variety of reactors and distillation columns offering a wide range of distillation, fractionation and reaction services for the manufacture and purification of specialty chemicals and solvents.
