Community Advisory Panels (CAP) – Residents’ Contact Groups
The Rhine Center is a responsible member of the communities in which its two sites are located. This is part of the “Responsible Care®” philosophy, a worldwide initiative of the chemical industry for the protection of health, safety and the environment. Dow joined this program back in 1989 and renewed its engagement in 2006. The Rhine Center implements “Responsible Care®” in the form of a broad dialogue with the public by accommodating regular visitor groups and offering "Open House Days". It seeks public approval for all its activities. A “Residents-Dow contact group" in Rheinmünster, Dow’s first Community Advisory Panel in Europe, has been active since 1991; in April 2003, a "consultative committee" was formed in Drusenheim. These Community Advisory Panels have stated their aim of maintaining dialogue and building bridges between Dow and the residents around the sites at Rheinmünster and Drusenheim. Their proposals are integrated into the company’s decision-making process. ® Responsible Care is a registered trademark of the American Chemistry Council. |
