A Partner for the RegionDow acknowledges the principles of Sustainable Development worldwide. This means that Dow aims at balancing economic prosperity, environmental protection and social responsibility. At the Rhine Center, this is put into practice in the neighboring area – Dow listens to and relates to the people living around the site.
Over the decades, the Dow Rhine Center has become an important partner for the region and contributes to the implementation of educational, social, and cultural projects. Dow is also an important partner for the regional economy, opening up innovative opportunities. For example, the steam generation plant at the Rheinmünster site does not belong to Dow, but to EnBW (Energie Baden-Württemberg AG). EnBW operates the plant and supplies Dow with power, while Dow provides its own specialized personnel as a service. Likewise, the two new Intermodal Container Terminals (ICT), are located on Dow grounds in Drusenheim and Rheinmünster, but the facilities are operated by a logistics partner, GEODIS, from Strasbourg. Since July 1st, 2006, the Dow Rheinmünster site also houses the production plant for superabsorbant polymers, owned by Evonik Stockhausen GmbH.
