History
Dow Automotive Freienbach (formerly Gurit-Essex AG) was established in 1970 as a joint venture with Essex Specialty Products Inc. to introduce direct glazing technology into Europe. Its product range includes direct glazing/glass bonding systems (BETAPRIME® & BETASEAL®), reinforcing composites and acoustical damping systems (BETABRACE® & BETADAMP®) and structural adhesives (BETAMATE®).

Our competitive, innovative product lines for use in original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and the repair market complement each other perfectly. Building on the know-how and high level of reliability of OEM products, we provide solutions for the repair market, for example: dual component bonding systems with short curing times for replacement glazing (BETAMATE® E), adhesives for attaching plastic components like spoilers (BETALINK® K2) and epoxy based bodywork systems (BETAMATE® 3).

A Major European Center for R&D
Freienbach houses a large Research and Development (R&D) team which works on direct glazing and structural metal bonding technology. Market leadership in glass bonding is maintained by constantly evolving and adapting our products to the customer’s needs.

Our structural adhesives help to enhance the effectiveness of vehicle body structure and dissipate and absorb energy without adding weight or significant cost . This product family is one of the most promising growth factors for the site at Freienbach and our company.
