Originally part of the ICI Billingham complex, a number of ex-ICI reactors were acquired by Cleveland Chemicals Ltd in 1993. In 1994, Cleveland Chemicals was bought by Chemoxy International ( now Dow Haltermann Custom Processing Middlesbrough site). The site has three multi-purpose processing units with reaction and distillation capabilities. Products range from quaternary surfactants — for example, fabic softeners — to fuel additives.
