Dow Announces Price Increase for Ethylene Oxide, Triethylene Glycol and Tetraethylene Glycol
Costs of Transportation, Energy and Raw Materials Continue to Rise

Midland, MI - October 14, 2005

The Dow Chemical Company will increase its list and off-list selling prices for ethylene oxide (EO) by $0.10 per pound and triethylene glycol (TEG) and tetraethylene glycol (Tetra) by $.08 per pound in North America, or as otherwise allowed by individual contract terms.

"Rapidly escalating costs and restricted supply of feedstocks, energy and logistics associated with the impact of two hurricanes in less than a month on the U.S. Gulf Coast continue to impact costs, production and delivery of EO, TEG and Tetra" said John O. Smith, Commercial Manager, Dow EO and Higher Glycols. "These factors necessitate this price increase and continue to disrupt the manufacture and delivery of these products from Dow."

Dow continues Force Majeure for TEG and Tetra due to the continued impact of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita on natural gas, raw material and transportation services availability. Dow is currently allocating TEG and Tetra at 100 percent of average monthly volumes or as contracts allow.
