Non-supported Applications

Dow supports the sale of ethylene glycols for use in industrial applications only.

Dow will not knowing sell into non-supported applications.

Examples of non-supported applications of Dow-manufactured ethylene glycols are listed below; however, this list is not intended to be all-inclusive:

Production of tobacco and in the manufacture of tobacco products (including additives, humectants, filters, inks, and paper).
Generation of artificial smoke / theatrical fogs / mists.
Ingredients in fuel for warming foods (Sterno™-like application) or in fuel for heating an enclosed space where human exposure is possible.
Fire extinguishing sprinkler systems.
The manufacture of munitions.
In the production of deicer for roadways and sidewalks.
A component of Heat Transfer Fluids in systems where the heat transfer fluids could infiltrate (i.e., via an exchanger leak, backflow prevention failure, or other means) a potable water system.
Any application where the Product is to be purposely used as a non-reacted component in a formulation for direct internal or external human/animal contact including but not limited to ingestion, inhalation, skin contact and in medical/veterinary devices and medical/veterinary applications is not supported by Dow. (Examples of some such applications are uses as a direct component in foods, beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, or personal care products.)
Consumer or hospital usage for deodorizing or air "purifying" purposes by spraying as an aerosol.
Any application where the Product is to be purposely used as a non-reacted component in a formulation to make adhesives, plasticizers, or softening agents for packaging that has direct contact with food or beverages.

Any application where the Product is to be purposely used as a non-reacted component in the formulation of glues, pastes or items where the potential for sufficient human contact and/or ingestions exists (including but not limited to chlidren's school glues/paste or art/craft glue/paste is not supported by Dow.

Further, any violation of or failure to comply with the information contained in the Dow Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Product Label, or other product safety information is a misuse of DOW Ethylene Glycols.
