Design Software

Dow Water & Process Solutions continuously invests in high-quality software to help you make the right choice to meet your water treatment needs, and to monitor the health of your FILMTEC™ reverse osmosis or DOWEX™ ion exchange systems after installation. Explore the information below to determine which software is right for you and receive download instructions.

ROSA (Reverse Osmosis System Analysis)

What is it?
ROSA—the industry-leading RO system design tool for decades—makes it easy for you to design a reverse osmosis plant to meet your required water treatment specifications.

How does it work?
Enter the concentration of ions in the feed water, select the type of FILMTEC™ element, and try different vessel configurations. ROSA does all the complex math for you and produces a complete, but simple-to-understand, report predicting the water quality and flow rate.

If you need a more innovative design to meet the challenge, ROSA is also equipped to add recirculation streams, split permeate streams and vessels with Internally-Staged Design (mixing element types in the same vessel), keeping up with the latest design concepts.

Where do I get it?
Dow researchers are constantly learning more about membrane behavior as a function of pH, ionic strength, and temperature and incorporating this knowledge into the ROSA simulation model for improved accuracy. New FILMTEC™ products are continuously added. Visit our dedicated ROSA page to see the latest advancements, download ROSA and start using it today!

CADIX (Computer Assisted Design for Ion eXchange)

What is it?
CADIX saves you engineering time in the design phase and also helps you monitor the health of demineralization or softening systems using DOWEX™ ion exchange resins.

How does it work?
To meet your design preferences, CADIX can consider both co-current and counter-current systems and can also help you determine the benefits of the UPCORE™ counter-current regeneration system for your plant.

After you provide CADIX with all the necessary inputs, the program will print a complete and easy-to-use report, and will provide an economic comparison when multiple options are being considered.

FTNORM (FilmTec's Normalization of Membrane Systems)

What is it?
After a system is designed with ROSA and finally operating, it is important to protect your investment by monitoring the performance of the plant and determining when it is time for a preventative cleaning cycle that enables membrane life to be extended.

But variations in feed water temperature, salinity or pump pressure can influence the apparent productivity and rejection of a membrane system, making it less obvious when a real change in membrane performance has occurred. FTNORM takes away the guesswork by compensating for these variations.

How does it work?
FTNORM is provided as an easy-to-use Excel® spreadsheet. Simply enter daily observed values into the spreadsheet and pre-loaded equations convert the raw data into normalized values that feed into charts displaying normalized trends, making it easy to know when your membrane system has accumulated too many foulants and should be cleaned.
