Globally, more than 795 million people are undernourished today. While this is a substantial improvement vs. the past decade, global population increases are expected to create additional challenges. According to UN projections, the world’s population could reach 9.15 billion by 2050, creating a 60 percent increase in demand for food. How do we get more nutritional food to the people who need it? Dow people and partners are working on the answers.

By focusing on this global need, Dow will strive to provide more nutritional food and address the food demands on a growing population.

6,000 Pounds of Fresh Produce Help Fight against Hunger
More than 500 employees have volunteered in some way to build the Hunger Solutions Network, launched by Dow AgroSciences in 2013 to leverage its Indianapolis-area employees’ expertise and passion in the battle against food insecurity.

In 2015, more than 6,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables were donated from the garden.

Sustainable Solutions to Improve Rice Production 
Through collaboration between Dow and local nonprofit organizations in Surabaya, the partners developed economic and sustainable technical solutions to enable farmers to recondition their farmland and explore options and tools to boost rice production.
