Business: Building & Construction
Melissa Jones is the global communications leader for Building & Construction and is responsible for leading global public affairs and communications for the business portfolio and overseeing the global business communications team for Dow Building Solutions and Dow Construction Chemicals. As such, she represents Public Affairs & Government Affairs on the Building & Construction Global Leadership Team. Melissa also holds responsibility for facilitating the established BIZCOM13 communications team. This platform, in essence, serves as Dow’s extended global Business Communications leadership team and drives Company initiatives and excellence in all-things-communications with each business around the globe.
Prior to being named global communications leader for Building & Construction, Melissa was the enterprise social media manager for Dow and was responsible for management, leadership and oversight of the day-to-day programs, activities and employees of Dow’s global Social Media Team; as well as support of key programs and channels. She served on the Integrated Corporate Affairs Leadership Team and the Brand Implementation Team. Ultimately responsible for the Company’s social media channel strategies, activities and governance, one of her primary responsibilities was to act as a global change agent and catalyst in the integration of digital tactics and methods into communications plans via a content marketing process.
Melissa began her career working as an account executive for Bolger + Battle, a marketing communications agency in Midland, Michigan. In 2010, she joined Dow as a marketing communications manager for Dow Polyurethanes, Propylene Oxide and Propylene Glycol. In 2011, she was named global communications manager for Dow Polyurethanes. Working with the global business director and the business management team, she was responsible for all business communications including strategy, employee and marketing communications. In the Spring of 2012 she accepted global Dow Thermosets business communications in addition to all Polyurethanes business communications. Between September 2012 and July 2013, Melissa was also responsible for global leader communications support for the business president of the Polyurethanes, Systems and Automotive Solutions portfolio of businesses.
Her passion to advocate for women in leadership drives her participation in Dow’s Women’s Innovation Network and Commercial Women’s Leadership Forum. Melissa joined the Dow Public Affairs & Government Affairs Recruiting Team for Central Michigan University at the end of 2013. She served as a Board member at Safe & Sound Child Advocacy Center from 2010 to 2013, and as Secretary of the Executive Committee for the latter half of her term. Melissa is an active member of her local church and serves as a vocalist on the Worship Team, as well as co-leader of a teenage girls’ discipleship group.
Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing and Management from Northwood University, and resides with her family in Midland, Michigan, U.S.A.
