Solutions for Capsules
METHOCEL™ solutions, derived from wood pulp, are increasingly preferred materials over traditional gelatin (animal) based capsules. METHOCEL™ offers customers a non-animal derived (vegetarian) and sustainable material without sacrificing desired release performance. Additionally, HPMC based capsules provide good mechanical properties that enable a high quality, robust end capsule product.
AFFINISOL™ polymers demonstrate good performance in manufacturing solid dispersions powders/granules to fill hard shell capsules.
CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ PEGs
CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ products are used extensively in soft gelatin capsules. They enhance solubility of the active substance as the primary water-soluble component in the liquid fill. The high purity, especially the low aldehyde content, makes CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ an ideal choice for soft gel capsules.
For hard gelatin capsules, CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ products effectively solubilize active ingredients in a melt-fill protocol. A suitable anti-oxidant additive such as Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) may be beneficial in providing oxidative stability to the active ingredient and to the PEG under filling conditions.
ENTERACT™ HPMCAS Polymers
ENTERACT™ HPMCAS polymers provide flexible capsule coatings for enteric delivery that resist disintegration in the stomach.
