Dow to Underscore its Expanded Pharma Offering and to Present Innovative Technologies for Topical Skin Management, Drug Delivery and Multiparticulate Systems at CPhI Worldwide 2016
Dow Pharma & Food Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) and Dow Corning, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow, present latest innovations designed to address pharmaceutical industry needs at CPhI Worldwide, in Barcelona (Spain), October 4-6 2016.
Solvent-Free Advanced Productivity Technology for Barrier Membrane Coatings
At booth #4J54, Dow Pharma Solutions will be presenting a new high productivity ethylcellulose polymer for multiparticulate and taste masking applications that will help pharmaceutical companies to dry coat barrier membranes in shorter coating times, at higher efficiencies and without the need for solvents.
"Pharmaceutical companies are devoting more of their resources to enhance Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) solubilization and to bring new medicines to patients. For established molecules where competition is intense, they focus on patient outcomes to differentiate their offering and productivity improvements as a way to manage profit margins. We invite CPhI visitors to learn more about Dow Pharma technology platforms for Solubility Enhancement and Productivity. At this year's CPhI, we are launching an innovative ETHOCEL™ polymer designed for faster, more cost-effective, solvent-free1 sustained release tablet and multi-particulate coating" said Christophe Massip, global marketing director for Dow Pharma and Food Solutions.
Acne Management Formulations and Blends for Skin Barrier Applications
At booth #4H64, Dow Corning will be introducing two new, cutting-edge solutions: a kit of sample formulations for acne management featuring Dow Corning Topical Ingredients, and three new silicone blends for skin barrier applications and adhesive and film removal. Dow Corning will also present other highlights from its extensive portfolio. These include the unique digital Topical Formulation Box and two topical ingredients from this online tool: a solid resin film-former and a semi-occlusive wax for texture modification.
"Dow Corning continues to address the needs of both formulators and regulators with an expanding range of silicone-based solutions for drug delivery and consumer healthcare applications," said Gary Lord, global strategic marketing director. "We help formulators support efficacy and patient compliance by enabling effective delivery using the optimal form. At the same time, we supply the exact set of information for each application that is required by regulators."
Show participants are also encouraged to attend Dow Corning's presentation at the Exhibitor Showcase in Hall 2C70, at 11:00 a.m. on Oct. 5. Marc Eeman, healthcare skin application designer for Dow Corning, will present on the topic "Dow Corning's Innovative silicone film-formers for topical pharmaceutical solutions," including key film attributes and their impact on topical skin delivery of established pharmaceutical actives.
Broader, Deeper and Stronger Cooperation
Market and technical experts from Dow will be present to discuss Dow technologies and capabilities designed to help Pharma manufacturers respond to current trends and solve health challenges though a broader, deeper and stronger cooperation.
Since June 1st, 2016, Dow is now 100 percent owner of Dow Corning's silicones business. Dow and Dow Corning already have a solid platform to build on with 73 years of shared history and shared values, as well as the same passion for innovation and customer focus.
Dow Corning's silicones business reinforces Dow pharma Solutions' offering in topical, transdermal applications as well as in gastroenterology. It also enables Dow to offer complementary technology offerings in attractive industry segments where Dow is already a leader today, such as medical devices.
