As the chemical industry becomes more integrated though eBusiness, issues such as transaction reliability and security become of great concern. In response, Dow is working with chemical industry leaders to implement a cyber security program focused on risk management and reduction.

The Chemical Sector Cyber Security Program was initiated in 2002. This Program is part of an industry-wide effort to maintain safe and secure information exchange and operations. In September 2006, a renewed strategy document was published consisting of five key components, including:

  • Information Sharing (within the chemical sector, with other critical infrastructure sectors, with the Department of Homeland Security)
  • Cyber security guidance enhancement and relevance
  • Sector-wide adoption of common cyber security practices
  • Enhanced security in technology solutions
  • Government relations
