Dow Latex Powder

Dow Latex Powders (DLP) are redispersible polymer powders that combine the performance benefits of liquid latex modifiers with the convenience, reliability and handling and storage advantages of one-component dry systems. DLP redispersible polymer powders are designed for the construction industry, primarily as additives for cement- or gypsum-based dry blend products. The products are produced and distributed by Dow and are available worldwide.

Product Properties

DLP redispersible polymer powders are made by spray drying aqueous dispersions. The dispersions are mainly based on vinylacetate homopolymers, vinylacetate/vinyl-versatate copolymers or vinylacetate/ethylene copolymers. Water-soluble protective colloids are post-added to the dispersion to improve the efficiency of the spray drying process and to enhance the redispersibility of the final product. Anti-caking agents are added during the spray drying process to avoid the agglomeration of the final individual powder particles.

Applications

The main applications for DLP redispersible polymer powders are dry blend products such as cement-based tile adhesives, thermal insulation systems (ThIS or EIFS) and self-leveling flooring compounds (SLFC or self-leveling underlays). Key application properties, like adhesion strength on porous and non-porous substrates and flexibility of the set mortar are improved by the addition of DLP redispersible polymer powders.
