Dow Wolff Cellulosics and UNIVAR Pair 'Natural' and 'Healthy' with 'Convenience' at IFT 2008

Midland, MI - June 24, 2008

Dow Wolff Cellulosics (DWC) Food & Nutrition and its North American distributor, UNIVAR USA, are pairing up at the 2008 Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Food Expo to help formulators satisfy consumers’ preference for natural, healthy and convenient foods. METHOCEL™ Food Gums, FORTEFIBER™ Soluble Dietary Fiber and CLEAR+STABLE Carboxymethylcellulose from DWC Food & Nutrition may be used in support of “derived from natural sources”, “heart health” and “allergen-free” label claims in baked goods, meats, sauces and snacks.

“Prepared foods and snacks fit today’s busy lifestyles, but formulators strive to make them healthier – and still taste good –,” said Stephanie Lynch, global marketing manager for Food and Nutrition, Dow Wolff Cellulosics. “Our plant-derived products deliver the health and sensory benefits that consumers want, while giving formulators the ingredient efficiency they may need in today’s market.”

A recipient of last year’s inaugural IFT Food Expo Innovation Award, FORTEFIBER™ Soluble Dietary Fiber is clinically proven to help maintain healthy levels of blood glucose, insulin and cholesterol. METHOCEL™ Food Gums are also used to help improve the nutritional profile of prepared foods by acting fat replacers, supporting the reduction of saturated and trans fats in a variety of food products and helping to enable allergy-free foods.

Dow Wolff Cellulosics will showcase its ingredients and technologies for food and nutrition solutions within the UNIVAR USA booth (#2507) at the IFT Food Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana, from June 29 to July 1.
