Adhesives and Grouts
METHOCEL™ Cellulose Ethers and WALOCEL™ M products are known for their ability to efficiently thicken adhesives and grouts, while also making them easier to mix and apply. They also provide water retention properties, which helps to improve the workability of various adhesives, such as cement-based tile adhesives, dispersion-based tile adhesives, and adhesives for interior and exterior concrete blocks. Adhesives and grouts made with METHOCEL and WALOCEL products also impart excellent bonding strength, helping to prevent sagging of tiles and other materials.
Jointing Compounds and Mortars
Often used for filling in the gaps between tiles on walls or floors, jointing compounds are generally cement-based and can be formulated for exterior or interior use. METHOCEL and WALOCEL products are ideal for jointing compounds, due to their ability to provide improved bonding strength and workability. DOW™ Latex Powders can also be used to further enhance ease of applications by providing longer open times. These products also provide the same enhanced characteristics to masonry mortars.
Plasters, Renders and Fillers
METHOCEL, WALOCEL and DOW Latex Powders products all ideal for use in plasters, renders, and fillers, such as cement-based plasters, gypsum-based plasters, and dispersion-based plasters, and fillers of the same type. They help make plasters and fillers easier to mix and apply, and also control adhesion by providing excellent bonding strength, and improve the workability and water retention of these products to enable a smooth, uniform finish.
Wallpaper Pastes
METHOCEL and WALOCEL products help make wallpaper pastes easier to mix and apply, allowing for a smooth, uniform finish.
Self-Leveling Floor Compounds
Self-leveling compounds are used for covering poured surfaces and flooring such as screeds. Tiles can then be laid in a thin bed of tile adhesive; or parquet flooring, wall-to-wall fitted carpets and other floor coverings can be laid onto the leveled surface. METHOCEL and WALOCEL products enable improved adhesion strength, while CELLOSIZE™ Hydroxyethyl Cellulose can be used to help prevent separation of filler particles.
Extruded Cement Panels
METHOCEL and WALOCEL products can help control water retention during the extrusion process to enhance the strength of extruded cement panels, allowing for durable, lasting materials. With their ability to provide excellent lubricity, POLYOX™ Water-Soluble Resins are also ideal for use in this application, by allowing easier pumping of concrete and cement.
