Inclusion and Diversity

Our solutions are reshaping our world. And at the heart of our solutions are our people. Their diversity* is our strength. They reflect the world in which we do business and the communities in which we live. Dow is proud to join the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance inclusion and diversity in the workplace.

Representing 175 companies, 50+ industries and all geographies, our public commitment is driven by a realization that addressing inclusion and diversity is not a competitive issue, but a societal issue, that together we can play a critical role in addressing.

2022 Progress Report cover

The results are in on how we're advancing our ambition

We continue to make significant progress using our expertise, products, technologies and partnerships to meet the evolving demands of customers while leading the transition to a more sustainable, inclusive future.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission requires U.S.-based companies that have at least 100 employees to provide U.S.-based workforce data.

While the EEO-1 report is limited in scope and does not include our global workforce information, we believe transparency is key to advancing inclusion, diversity and equity. The data provided in our 2022 INtersections Progress Report is a more comprehensive reflection of our progress and serves to hold us accountable to our commitments.

Our current Federal Employer Information EEO-1 data represents data on December 31, 2021.

Strategy

From formal training to policies that promote inclusion, accessibility and equal treatment, we invest in growing our understanding and appreciation of the differences among us to thrive. At Dow, we lead with inclusion because without an inclusive workplace, diversity is just a numbers game instead of being a powerful force for Dow winning in the marketplace.

To achieve our vision, we have established seven global foundational pillars:

Governance

Institutionalize and inclusive culture

 Customers

Deliver an unparalleled customer experience

 Talent

Increase employee engagement and create an environment where everyone can thrive

People Leaders

Cultivate an inclusive culture

Suppliers

Achieve top benchmark performance in supplier diversity

Communities

Strengthen communities where we live, work and do business

Reputation

Establish a leadership position and be recognized as a great place to work

Governance

Dow’s Inclusion and Diversity strategy is led by Alveda Williams, Dow’s Chief Inclusion Officer. Three committees play distinct and necessary roles for implementation.

The President's Inclusion Council
Defines and supports the mandate from the top
Senior Leaders Inclusion Council

Joint Inclusion Council

Advancing Individual Potential

Our workforce is comprised of exceptionally talented employees. Each individual’s skill and willingness to work as ‘One Team’ makes us one of the most competitive companies in the market.

Our training programs are designed to challenge our employees and prepare them for the next step in their careers.

Several of the ERGs have formed partnerships with external organizations to drive progress and change, develop community programs and pursue other outreach opportunities.

Advocacy Community Talent

Committing to ACT

Racial bias and division are woven into the fabric of our society. Every day, members of the Black community encounter racism, bigotry and threat of violence because of the color of their skin. As we reflect on recent racial injustices, we know it’s not enough to just condemn this bigotry. We have to dismantle it in ourselves and our organization.

Championing Inclusion in our Communities

Through charitable and volunteer efforts, Dow employees are enhancing many communities around the world, as well as building stronger relationships and connections with one another. Here are just a few examples of diversity organizations that Dow supports through its philanthropy and volunteerism.
