Juan R. Luciano Senior Vice President, Hydrocarbons & Energy, Basic Plastics, and Joint Ventures |
Juan R. Luciano is Senior Vice President of Dow’s Hydrocarbons & Energy / Basic Plastics / Joint Ventures portfolio. Excluding JV’s, Juan’s portfolio encompasses 29 countries and more than 5,500 employees. His JV leadership expands across ten companies with manufacturing locations in Kuwait, Argentina, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and the United States.
In addition to the above three Divisions, Juan is responsible for overseeing Dow’s Latin America region and is a member of the Company’s Executive Leadership Committee, Strategy Board, and the Management Committee.
Juan joined Dow in Latin America in 1985 as a sales representative for Basic Chemicals. He subsequently held positions as product marketing manager for Polyurethanes and as business analyst, Economic Evaluation, in Argentina. In 1994, he became sales and marketing manager for Specialty Chemicals, in Brazil. He next took on responsibility as marketing manager for Polyglycols, Oxygenated Solvents, and DPO/HTF/Surfactants in Latin America. In 1996, he moved to the U.S. and became senior marketing manager for the Americas, Polyglycols, within the Specialty Chemicals portfolio.
In 1999, he was named business director for Chelants, Specialty Chemicals. He moved to the Polyethylene business in July 2000 to become the global business director for LDPE/PRIMACOR™/SARAN™/Slurry PE. In 2001, he assumed the position of Global Business Director for Polypropylene. In January 2004, Juan was named Business Vice President for Engineering Polymers, which included Polypropylene / Polystyrene / ABS / Polycarbonate and Compounding Products. In February 2006, he was named Global Business Vice President Olefins and Aromatics in the Hydrocarbons and Energy business. In 2007, he was named Business Group President for Dow’s Hydrocarbons and Energy Business, as well as having oversight responsibility for Dow’s Latin America region. His most recent position became effective in December 2008.
Juan was recently elected as a National Trustee in the Midwest region for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in industrial engineering from the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology.
