e-Commerce is a powerful tool to enhance efficiency, communication and supplier access. Dow Purchasing is in the process of converting to new architecture and support systems that may impact supplier interactions. See Supplier Correspondence for announcements that may impact you.
Established e-Commerce systems driven by Dow's Global Purchasing function are listed below. These systems give suppliers access to additional business opportunities with Dow.
Business-to-Business Transactions (SAP SRM)
Dow’s implementation OF SAP SRM enables Dow employees to purchase from pre-qualified suppliers or from an approved list of suppliers or aggregators at the suppliers' book price. Dow Purchasing negotiates long-term contracts to provide this capability.
Aggregator
In many cases, Dow purchases single items or a limited number of low-cost items from a wide range of suppliers with whom we do not have formal contracts. This is accomplished through an aggregator who can provide Dow with access to multiple suppliers. An example of an aggregator Dow uses is SciQuest.com. When R&D needs to purchase laboratory equipment and supplies, they can use Dow e-Mart to connect with SciQuest.com and search for a specific item using SciQuest's search capabilities.
