Dow Building Solutions Reinforces Support for Solutions-Based Approach to Climate Challenge

Dow Building Solutions, a business unit of Dow, is dedicated to the development of innovative energy and climate change solutions. In the U.S. each year, the building sector accounts for about half of all energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.

As part of its comittment to helping address climate change, Dow Building Solutions recently participated in a joint sponsorship of The American Response to Climate Change Conference. The conference brought together representatives from corporations, non-governmental organizations (NGO) and the academic community to discuss solutions to the U.S. greenhouse gas (GHG) challenge.

Dow believes that the key to addressing the climate crisis lies in collaboration with customers, governments, NGOs academia and other like-minded individuals. This is why we are lending our resources and support to this conference and the co-operative dialogue it will stimulate.

Dow Building Solutions offers products that help reduce the carbon footprint of buildings. For example well over a hundred million metric tons of CO2 equivalent emissions are averted each year through the use of Brand leading products such as STYROFOAM™ , THERMAX™, TRYMER™, and GREAT STUFF™ insulation and sealant products. From 1995 to 2005, Dow reduced its energy intensity by 22 percent, saving around 900 trillion Btu, enough to power approximately eight million homes for a year.
