Strategic Marketing Manager, S. Ashok Kalyana explains how new hiding technologies from Dow Coating Materials can reduce your carbon footprint.

Less TiO2 Means a Smaller Energy Footprint

Titanium is an element that’s available in abundance, but it takes a lot of energy to extract it from the earth, process it into TiO2 pigment, and transport it. When formulators use EVOQUE™ Pre-Composite Polymer Technology to reduce the amount of TiO2 in their paint products, they may also reduce that portion of their product’s energy footprint that comes from mining, processing and transporting TiO2 to their formulation plant. A smaller energy footprint is directly related to a smaller carbon footprint.

Dow Coating Materials is in the process of conducting a life cycle analysis (LCA) to determine the full spectrum of sustainability advantages that may result from using EVOQUE™ Pre-Composite Polymer Technology.
