Dow Lifts Force Majeure for Caustic Soda

Midland, MI - May 16, 2007

Effective immediately, The Dow Chemical Company and Dow Chemical Canada Inc. (collectively “Dow”) have determined that, due to developments affecting the United Transportation Union (UTU) strike in Canada, the company can resume normal shipments of 50% Liquid Caustic Soda.

Dow is the world’s leading producer of caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), which is an essential ingredient in an array of industrial operations, including pulp and paper, textiles, soap and detergents, bleach, petroleum products and alumina, along with many other uses in the chemical processing industry.
