John Sampson Appointed Business Director for Chlor-Alkali

Midland,MI - April 25, 2007

Effective immediately John Sampson, site leader for Dow’s Rhine Center and Dow AgroSciences business Manufacturing leader, has been appointed business director for Chlor-Alkali in Basic Chemicals.  In his new role, Sampson will report to Earl Shipp, president for Basic Chemicals, and will relocate to Midland from Germany. 

Sampson started his Dow career in 1983 in Louisiana.  After completion of his process and product development assignments in Polymers Research and Development in 1988, he moved to the Manufacturing function where he completed several Production Engineering and Production Management assignments, including a plant startup assignment in Stade, Germany.

In 1992, he was appointed production supervisor for Dexco Polymers (a partnership between Dow and ExxonMobil), and was named Supply Chain manager for the JV in 1996.  Sampson relocated to Midland, Michigan, in 1998 and became North America Supply Chain manager for Engineering Plastics.  He was named global director, Six Sigma and Supply Chain for Engineering Plastics in 2000, before he relocated to California as site leader for the Pittsburg facilities and business Manufacturing leader for the Fumigants and Turf & Ornamental business in Dow AgroSciences. Sampson moved to Germany and was named to his current position in 2004.

Sampson holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Louisiana State University, U.S.A.
