Commercial carpet backed with polyurethane technology from The Dow Chemical Company ("Dow") meets the hospitality industry's key design and durability demands. From lobby to guest rooms, hospitality flooring must endure a host of challenges including rolling carts and racks, wheeled luggage, high foot traffic, heavy loads and food and drink spills. DOW™ ENHANCER¹ Technology for cushioned carpet backing or ENFORCER™ Technology for non-cushioned carpet backing is designed to protect the carpet's appearance. The unique molecular structure allows it to absorb the pounding motion of foot traffic and support the heavy weight of furniture, without bottoming out. Dow polyurethane technology reduces the carpet's crushing and matting over time, even in high traffic areas. Plus, it recovers 90 percent or more of its thickness once heavy furniture is removed. By offering excellent adhesion to carpet yarn, Dow polyurethane technology maximizes bundle wrap around individual tufts. This strong tuft bind reduces pilling and fuzzing as well as the likelihood of delamination, which can be a major concern in intensive use situations like roller caster traffic.

To further extend the carpet's appearance, Dow polyurethane carpet backing technology is available with a functional liquid barrier. Polymers containing hydrophobic segments impede liquid and dirt from penetrating the subfloor, thereby reducing the occurrence of wick back staining. Since it minimizes the risk of odors due to liquid spills penetrating beneath the carpet, a functional liquid barrier is an excellent solution for banquet halls. Plus it allows for aggressive maintenance programs including hot water extraction. All this adds up to a carpet that looks better longer.
