Environment, Health & Safety
Dow professionals in Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) and Sustainability have a shared commitment to protect people and the planet. Members of Dow’s EH&S and Sustainability team work together to enable Dow’s success by providing Product Safety Services for the company’s more than 5,000 products and Site EH&S Services support for Dow’s operations at 188 sites in 35 countries across the globe.
Our EH&S team is working with academia, government, environmental groups and other companies to minimize the impact of industry on the environment and achieve new levels of corporate citizenship. Their efforts are resulting in industry records at many Dow sites and extensive recognition from communities, governments, activists and the news media.
EH&S Analytical Support
Provides analytical-based expertise – consulting, sample collection and analysis, data interpretation and data reporting/submission – to address EH&S needs. Areas of focus include issue management, process control and optimization, process safety and design, and regulatory compliance.
Emergency Services and Security
Our Emergency Services and Security professionals are industry leaders in Emergency and Security Preparedness and Response.
Environmental Regulatory Management
Provides regulatory expertise on Environment, Health and Safety, and implementation support to Dow sites and businesses. Advocates Dow positions with external stakeholders and develops environmental programs that advance industry performance.
Epidemiology
Provides technical expertise and support to address health-related issues through consultation with business leaders and external research organizations, including government and academia. In addition to consulting, the Epidemiology Expertise Center conducts studies to ensure company products are safe for customers, employees and communities.
Industrial Hygiene
Provides technical expertise on exposure assessment to Dow businesses and their customers. In addition, provides consultation and guidelines on health-related issues such as respiratory protection and ergonomics.
Life Cycle Analysis
A typical Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) in Dow is done following the ISO 14040/44 framework, with a clearly defined objective and scope boundaries. Our sustainable chemistry concept is designed to promote life cycle thinking within Dow and considers social as well as environmental aspects in our assessments. LCA is a powerful tool, not only for Dow, but for the value chain, for consumers and for governments.
Occupational Health
Provides a comprehensive set of occupational health services as well as consulting to Dow leadership, businesses, and other functions such as Public Affairs and Human Resources. Occupational Health staff members have a key role in driving the success of Dow’s health strategy.
Toxicology
Provides specialty-specific expertise and advice to Dow business through the Toxicology Expertise Center and Research Laboratory. Conducts laboratory-based studies to understand and address human and environmental health, regulatory and product stewardship concerns.

Auditing:
Assesses internal controls and processes, identifying
opportunities to make improvements and to reduce risk. Works
with all levels of Dow people around the world in areas such as

Controllers:
Responsible for providing world-class transaction
processing and reporting — both internally, for Dow's global
businesses, functions and geographies, as well as externally,
for Dow's shareholders. Also provides consultative, interpretive
analysis and support focused on improving global business
performance.
Investor Relations:
Provides the investment community with
timely, credible information on Dow's strategy and performance
to increase interest in Dow equity and fixed income instruments
and to enhance shareholder value. Also works with Senior
Leadership to ensure they understand the investment community's
views of Dow, including industry issues and the competitive
environment.
Mergers & Acquisitions:
Leads the corporate activity related
to mergers and acquisitions, an integral part of Dow's strategic
plan.
Strategic Planning & Business Analysis:
Provides financial
consulting to company management while maintaining and
developing the financial analysis and strategy development
technologies deployed across the company. Provides merger
and acquisition evaluation support for company-wide or
cross-business projects, and utilizes financial modeling and
analysis skills to support value-based decisions.
Tax:
Tax has a primary focus on tax planning, managing tax risks
including income tax audits and tax litigation around the world,
financial reporting for taxes and internal controls and providing
excellence in tax compliance. Tax is a global function and interacts
with business leaders and key functions on mergers and
acquisitions, joint ventures and significant business transactions.
Treasury:
Global function within Dow that ensures the
Company's financial flexibility allowing the Company to meet
business and corporate strategies. In addition, Treasury works
closely with executive management to manage risk holistically
employing enterprise wide risk management methodology. The
Treasury processes drive for excellence and innovation in each
of the key financial activities: cash management, corporate risk
management, credit risk management, financial asset
management, financing and insurance.
Business Aligned Finance:
Provides financial consulting to
the businesses utilizing a variety of skills developed in
Controllers, Strategic Planning & Business Analysis, Auditing, Tax
or Treasury. Works closely with business leadership to develop,
evaluate and modify value creating strategies. Activities include
competitive analysis, capital project authorizations, M&A
and divestiture opportunities, short and long-term planning, and
performance monitoring.

Legal
Dow Legal professionals are attorneys, paralegals, patent agents, and others who provide counsel to our Company on a wide range of legal and ethical issues facing international businesses. The Legal team ensures that we conduct our affairs in a legal manner around the globe and that our intellectual property is secure.
Commercial Law
We provide legal counsel to Dow’s global businesses and functions as a part of the business teams. Lawyers and staff draft and interpret contracts, counsel clients on a myriad of commercial laws, including antitrust and competition laws, as well as advise about sales, purchasing, distribution, and supply chain matters.
Environmental, Health, and Safety Law
Our Legal team safeguards Dow’s interests as we maintain our leadership role in global environmental responsibility and employee safety. Responsibilities include legal counseling on legislative and regulatory activity, treaties and industry initiatives regarding environmental, health and safety (EH&S) issues, and working with operations and EH&S professionals to obtain and maintain operational permits in an environmentally conscious world.
Ethics & Compliance
Our lawyers and ethics professionals promote Dow’s values and provide Dow employees with the tools, information, and services they need to make good, ethical business decisions. Responsibilities include oversight of the dissemination and communication of Dow’s Code of Business Conduct, training on the Code, associated laws and policies, and investigation and disposition of ethics related issues.
Financial Law
Our transactional legal teams support Dow’s growth activities in the area of mergers, acquisitions, and finance, from counseling on development of new businesses and investments in ventures to the securities law and financial and credit needs of a growing multi-billion dollar, public company.
Human Resources Law
Legal counsel advise on a wide range of human resources issues, including benefits, equal protection, unemployment compensation, discharge, workers compensation, collective bargaining, labor, and employment law issues.
Intellectual Property Law
The Intellectual Property legal team obtains global patent, trademark, and copyright protection for Dow’s intellectual assets and counsels Dow’s businesses in the negotiation and preparation of intellectual property agreements and legal opinions. Dow has more than 17,000 patents globally.
Litigation
Our litigators represent Dow on all aspects of litigation, regulatory proceedings, arbitration, and other formal and alternative dispute resolution methods.
Manufacturing & Engineering
Dow people in our Manufacturing & Engineering organization ensure that our products are made in a safe, environmentally responsible, efficient, and cost effective manner in production plants around the world. They also ensure that these plants are built, operated, and maintained well.
The broad scope of Manufacturing & Engineering offers employees in the function the opportunities to explore different work experiences, job roles, project assignments, locations and cultures. Production

Procurement
Dow employs more than 700 Procurement employees globally who are dedicated to delivering substantial and sustainable competitive advantage to Dow businesses and customers. The function manages the procurement and payment of more than $21 billion in goods and services each year in over 150 countries.
Dow Procurement ensures that Dow businesses we support have the materials and services needed to run an efficient, profitable enterprise. This activity as well as managing the entire process around it is organized into “Commercial” areas as follow:
Raw Materials / Packaging Materials / External Manufacturing
This group is responsible for purchasing all materials required for the smooth running of all Dow plants around the globe.
Logistics and Warehousing
Provides the means to deliver inputs from vendor locations to the plants as well as outputs from Dow plants in a timely and safe manner to the markets to ensure continuous availability of products to the Sales force. MRO / Capital Goods / EPC
Manages the purchasing engagement in all engineering projects as well as the purchase of both capital goods and spares for all equipments at Dow manufacturing sites.
Corporate Services
Purchases all goods and services required for running the various Dow sites, travel services, employee benefits services, etc.
Purchasing Transactional Services (BPSC)
The BPSC group ensures the smooth running of the ‘procure to pay’ processes and manages the entire value chain from purchase order creation to vendor payment and account reconciliation.
Purchasing Expertise Center
The center is responsible for all work processes and systems within Procurement and is involved in running continuous improvement programs for the function.
Public Affairs
Public Affairs professionals at Dow play a key role in managing and enhancing the corporate reputation.
Business Public Affairs
Helps position and promote Dow products and services to key customers and markets through trade media relations, advertising, literature production, direct mail, trade shows, customer communications and events, and digital and social media.
Corporate Public Affairs
Provides communications counsel to the company’s top executives as well as leads Dow’s communications with employees, the news media, advocacy groups and the general public.
Geographic Public Affairs
Works to build and strengthen relationships with employees, retirees, communities, advocacy groups, trade associations, governmental organizations and other stakeholders in their respective communities in Europe, India, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, North America and Asia Pacific.

Commercial Application Teams

Supply Chain

Logistics Management
Handles product import/export and ensures compliance with Customs and international regulations.
Supply Chain Site Services
Provides site transportation safety and security management, product packing and container loading, terminal and warehouse selection and management, and inventory management.
Supply Chain Business Processes
Works with Dow businesses to help them achieve supply chain performance objectives. Assists with planning and scheduling, material data coding, handling customer complaints including full resolution, and delivering customer supply chain data and analysis.
Consulting
Identifies supply chain opportunities for Dow businesses, develops implementation plans and deliverables to achieve desired results, and maintains continuous management with on-demand support personnel.
