What's great about working at Dow?
I have worked in various businesses and different geographic locations. Each experience has been an eye-opening one for me. I continue to be amazed at all that I have learned and am learning each day. A priceless experience is getting to work in an environment made up of many diverse people and learning to build effective teams from the differences we each bring to the workplace. Working with and leading people from across the globe has been a challenging but very rewarding experience for me.

My career development advice
Never stop learning and don’t be afraid to ask questions and admit your mistakes. Listen, listen and listen to those who will take the time to provide input. Listen to everyone – your leaders, your peers and your subordinates. You can learn a lot from those diverse ideas and opinions. And finally don’t forget to lead by example.

Important mentoring experience
I have been very fortunate to work with several very inspiring leaders at Dow. Collectively, they have made me the leader I am today through their example and the guidance they provided me. What makes them stand out is their passion for people and their working to develop people and tap their full potential by consistently setting very high standards. I learned from them to encourage full participation from every individual on my team by valuing each of their contributions. I also learned from them not to be afraid to let go of my best people. We all have a tendency to want to keep the star performers on our team, but doing so is a disservice to these individuals. We have to let them go so they are exposed to new experiences and continue to learn and grow from the exposure. Letting good people move on gives a leader the opportunity to work with and develop new talent. This is how we ensure a pipeline of good people who will renew the organization and deliver meaningful changes to the company and society.
