Dow sponsors Gord Bamford Canada Day concert

Fort Saskatchewan - June 06, 2011

In celebration of Dow’s 50 years of operations in the community of Fort Saskatchewan, we are proud to announce that the 2010 Country Music Male Artist of the Year - Gord Bamford - will be performing at a free community concert sponsored by Dow on Canada Day, Friday, July 1st at 8 p.m. at the Legacy Park Band Shell in Fort Saskatchewan.

“We were looking for a unique way to say thank you to our community for their support over the past 50 years,” said Joe Deutscher, Site Operations Director. “A concert on Canada Day will entertain a good portion of the community and let us share our celebration with both our employees and our neighbours.”

Dow’s participation in Canada Day in Fort Saskatchewan has been a long-standing tradition.  As the financial sponsors of the Pancake Breakfast, Dow employees and their families volunteer alongside the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department in feeding the residents who take part in the mornings’ festivities. This year, Dow will also be handing out free balloons to children at the Pancake Breakfast in support of our 50th Anniversary. Dow fire trucks will once again join in the annual parade.

“Since January, advertisements have been appearing bi-monthly in the Fort Saskatchewan Record as part of a community outreach strategy to inform the community of our important milestone, and to educate our residents about the programs and achievements we’ve made here at the site,” said Shawna Bruce, Public Affairs Manager of Dow Chemical Canada ULC.  “Additionally, the Dow presence at the Fort Saskatchewan Trade Show in April was elevated and highlighted this year with the theme of International Year of Chemistry featuring two Mad Science shows on the main stage and an interactive lab at the booth – all in an effort to help the community share in our celebrations.”

Bamford is making waves in the country music world  with his incredible talent, and  his desire to give back to the community with his charitable foundation that provides financial assistance to youth-focused organizations. He is a true country boy, devoted family man, and skilled entertainer who has shared the stage with an impressive list of country music stars including, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Brooks & Dunn, and George Straight.
