CO2 ELEVATE™

As a result of the growing global demand for oil, the oil and gas industry has been seeking new technologies capable of responding to their technical challenges and assuring higher oil recovery rates in wells in operation. The reduced production in mature fields, that is, from where oil has already been extracted, and the high costs of new discoveries, such as those in the pre-salt layer in Brazil, have been leading operators to demand more from fields in operation.

With a view to supporting the growth of the oil and gas industry, Dow Oil & Gas has developed the innovative CO2 ELEVATE™ . Designed to advanced oil recovery (EOR) activities, the solution was developed to increase the amount of oil extracted from wells in operation through injections of carbon dioxide (CO2), in addition to reducing operating costs.

With a fairly lower viscosity than that of water and of oil itself, the supercritical CO2 previously used in the extraction process did not penetrate less permeable layers, what used to lead to major losses of usable oil. To increase the oil extraction rate, CO2 ELEVATE™ reduces extraction costs and adjusts better to wells in operation, which require more advanced extraction technologies.
