Rick Strittmatter
Global Director Of Rick Strittmatter is the Global Research & Development (R&D) leader for Dow Biocides, responsible for product development, application development and technical service. Rick is responsible for the eight Microbiology laboratories located at the Dow Biocides customer application centers in Buffalo Grove, IL; Horgen, Switzerland; Shanghai, China; Singapore; Sao Paolo, Brazil; Mumbai, India; Dubai, U.A.E.; and Tokyo, Japan. Rick joined ANGUS Chemical Company in 1996 as applications R&D director, with responsibility for paints & coatings applications, metalworking fluid applications, wood adhesives, polymerization shortstops, and biocides applications. With the acquisition of ANGUS by the Dow Chemical Company in 1999, Rick became applications development leader responsible for research in new application development. In 2002, Rick was named project leader for porous SiLK* dielectric material, part of Dow’s Advanced Electronic Materials business, with responsibility for product development and material characterization of next generation low-k dielectrics. Prior to joining ANGUS, Rick served as a senior chemist and group leader for Nalco Chemical Company, with responsibility for the development of water recycle strategies and microbiological control programs for industrial cooling water applications. Rick was named to his current role in 2004. Rick holds three U.S. patents, has more than a dozen scientific publications, and has made numerous technical presentations. Rick is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Society for Industrial Microbiology, American Society of Microbiologists, FSCT, and the Technical Advisory Committee for the Center for Biofilm Engineering at Montana State University. Rick holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
