Dow Biocides adds Cleaners to GLUTEX Animal Biosecurity Program

Atlanta, GA - January 28, 2009

Dow Biocides, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) and global leader in antimicrobial solutions, announces the launch of a new line of GLUTEX™ Cleaners for the US market at the International Poultry Expo in Atlanta, Georgia. Designed specifically for animal biosecurity applications, the GLUTEX Cleaners are a new addition to the Dow Biocides animal biosecurity program, helping to provide a first line of defense on the farm.

GLUTEX Sanitizers and Cleaners are broad spectrum biocides that work to protect the farm against deadly vegetative pathogens that cause animal viruses such as Avian Influenza (H5N1/H6N2), more commonly known as ‘Bird Flu’, and human coronavirus, as well as control the spread of disease.

“Sanitization and cleaning is the foundation to a successful farm management program,” said Nanette Hermsen, global marketing manager, Dow Biocides. “GLUTEX products can be used in hatcheries and on poultry and turkey farms to defend the farm against microorganisms that cause animal diseases. Thorough cleaning and disinfection of buildings, equipment and vehicles are all a part of a comprehensive program to prevent outbreaks and keep animals healthy.”

The new GLUTEX Cleaners are designed to complement the GLUTEX sanitizer regimen for the removal of egg soil, chick down, proteinaceous, fatty, mineral scale, and other organic soils and detergent residues and build up. Cleaners include:

General Purpose Farm Cleaner 1300, a multi-purpose foaming cleaner
Acid Foam Cleaner 124, a phosphate-free, foaming acid cleaner and descaler
Alkaline Tray Wash 1434, a phosphate-free, chlorinated alkaline cleaner and tray wash
Alkaline Foam Cleaner 1418, a phosphate-free, foaming chlorinated alkaline cleaner
Acid Tray Wash 120, a phosphate-free, non-foaming acid cleaner and tray wash
