Dow Biocides Expands Glutex Sanitizers Availability to United States
IVESCO to Join GLUTEX Distributor Network as Exclusive Distributor in US

Saint Paul, Minnesota - March 19, 2008

Dow Biocides, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), announced today that it has reached a distribution agreement with IVESCO, LLC, a leader in animal health solutions, to supply GLUTEX™ Sanitizers for animal production in the United States. GLUTEX Sanitizers from Dow Biocides are vital in helping to reduce the risk of spreading deadly diseases and help fight against a wide range of animal viruses such as Avian Influenza (H5N1/H6N2), more commonly known as ‘Bird Flu’ and human coronavirus.

“Through an extensive product portfolio from Dow Biocides, deadly diseases can be controlled by preventing exposure of microorganisms into the farm environment. Simple procedures such as cleaning and sanitizing livestock trucks and farm vehicles before and after loading is just the beginning in disease prevention,” said Nanette Hermsen, global marketing manager, Dow Biocides.  “We are pleased to announce Dow Biocides will now supply GLUTEX products to the U.S. through IVESCO.  This new relationship expands the availability of GLUTEX to help increase animal biosecurity measures.”

The GLUTEX product portfolio, based on glutaraldehyde technology, has been proven effective for farm facilities, through testing performed at the Southern Research Institute (SRI), a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approved laboratory in the United States.  GLUTEX GS2 and GLUTEX GQ1 Sanitizers all passed the Virucidal Effectiveness Test against the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus H5N1.  Glutaraldehyde has also been identified by the World Health Organization (WHO), as an effective disinfectant against the Avian Influenza virus.

“We constantly strive to provide our customers with the latest technology in the industry by providing a variable elimination approach to problem solving as it relates to food animal production,” said Jesse McCoy, water quality division manager, IVESCO. “We are very pleased to offer our customers a new sanitizing tool for biosafety on their farms.”

When implementing a comprehensive farm sanitizing program, Dow Biocides recommends farmers consider a series of steps to maximize product efficacy.  Measures such as regularly sanitizing boxes both before and after moving chicks from the hatchery to the farm and controlling all traffic flow to and from the farm will help prevent cross-contamination.  Dow Biocides provides more detail in educational protocol online at www.dowglutex.com.
