The role of Dow's artificial turf solutions team is to help making decisions on every component of your artificial turf system.

Dow’s specialist turf team will advise and support you in creating tailored-made solutions for long-lasting and high performance artificial turf systems, offering compatible combinations of raw materials for yarn, infill, backing, and shock absorption, whether you require playing surfaces for football, golf, rugby, hockey, or a town’s recreation ground.

Dow's team combines Dow’s wealth of expertise in the polymer market and production of specialist resins and the experience of its four specialist units: Base Plastics, Specialty Plastics & Elastomers, Polyurethane (PU) Systems and Latex. 

Dow is using its collective R&D and technical muscle to produce enhancements that deliver value through the value chain – for example, developing an improved PU backing that is lighter, and more efficient for the installer, and locks the whole system together better to enhance the player’s experience.

Evolving to and beyond fourth generation systems

As the industry continues to evolve to and beyond fourth generation systems, raw material suppliers like Dow have to take an increasingly broad view of where to apply their research, processing and market development skills and knowledge.

One cannot, for example, just think about improving shock absorption, or reducing friction burns, in isolation. We have to think about implications, consequences and outcomes right through the lifecycle of a pitch, from the production and processing stages to the safety of the players and their ability to perform at their highest levels of skill, the robustness and ease-of-maintenance of the pitches, the end-of-life issues, and ultimately to how these changes and developments will effect the certification and standards bodies.

Developing new scientific test methods for turf in general is helping to progress toward greater understanding. This is truly about “joined-up thinking” and behavior.

    Filip is responsible for driving marketing, sales development, alliances, customer partnerships and business planning activities for Dow’s specialty plastics and elastomer polymers used in shock absorption applications in artificial turf systems.

  • Peter Mackey
    Business Development Manager – Polyurethane Artificial Turf Systems, Europe

    Peter is responsible for developing the polyurethane business for artificial grass systems throughout Europe.

    James is the Carpet Latex Market Manager and is responsible for developing the Latex business throughout Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa.
