Cyclic Olefin Co-Polymers
Cyclic Olefin Copolymers (COC) are produced by copolymerization of ethylene with a Cyclic Olefin Monomer such as norbornene, dihydro DCPD, phenyl norbornene and etracyclododecene. The Cyclic Olefin Monomers are derivatives of cyclopentadiene (CPD) or dicyclopentadiene (DCPD). ZieglerNatta and metallocene catalysts are used in the polymerization processes. COC resins have excellent transparency, near zero birefringence, low density, low water uptake, and good chemical resistance.
DCPD High Purity can be used as raw material for COC resins used in applications such as high-density electronic storage media, optical disks, high-quality lenses, medical labware, high-performance films and pharmaceutical blister packaging. It is produced from cyclopentadiene by dimerisation and purified afterwards to ensure high quality of the material.
