What is AMP?

AMP amino alcohol (2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) is a highly efficient amino alcohol used for a broad spectrum of applications, including personal care, coatings, water treatment, pharmaceuticals, mineral slurries and metalworking fluids. See AMP for additional information.

Is AMP in allocation?

No. AMP is no longer in allocation. In 2005, ANGUS successfully expanded our AMP production facility, increasing our capacity by more than 35%. We restored our stable and secure supply position for all AMP grades globally. Click here if you are interested in learning the benefits of using AMP in your formulation.

Do you use animal testing? Do your products contain animal products in them?

Animal testing is a sensitive issue, fraught with numerous challenges. While ANGUS and Dow's commitment to improving the products that help improve people’s lives sometimes requires us to use animals in tests, we do so only when other options have been exhausted and only when such tests are necessary to ensure the health and safety of the world’s human population. Please see more information on Dow’s guidelines on animal testing.

ANGUS amino alcohols are comprised of a primary amine as well as a tertiary amine structure. These products bracket the range of high, moderate, and low alkalinity. Each of them has relatively low molecular weights, making them efficient neutralizers of acid-functional formulation components such as fatty acids, resins and thickeners. Some products have the ability to reach vapor phase contact areas and therefore provide corrosion control in this space. Others have either low volatility or are non-volatile and are suitable for low/no VOC formulations. The single or multiple hydroxyl functionalities add to their versatility especially as synthetic starting materials.
