Alan Whetten

Alan Whetten is the Global Director of Research and Development (R&D) for ANGUS Chemical Company. In his role, Alan’s responsibilities include running the global ANGUS R&D and technical service organizations including product, process and applications R&D. In addition, he serves on the business management team. Alan is located in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, USA.

Alan joined Dow in 1984 and has served in a variety of roles, most recently as a Director for Dow Plastics Technical Service & Development with responsibilities for the rigid packaging and pipes groups. He was a key member of the Dow/Union Carbide (UCC) integration team and spent two years at the Weston Canal facility in New Jersey. He holds several patents and was one of the recipients of the R&D Magazine 100 award in 2001 for the development and commercialization of INSPIRE™ performance polymers.

Alan holds a master of science degree in chemistry from Kansas State University.
